My homeschooled daughter and I made our way through this book together. Math is not a passion or even an area of mild interest for either of us, but we will miss this book. Jacobs weaves in all sorts of interesting tidbits of information from other fields: art, architecture, astronomy, history, the natural sciences. He includes problems taken straight from Sumerian tablets, ancient Chinese books, Pharoah's tax assessors, and 19th Century textbooks. Each lesson includes several sets of problems, the last being much more challenging for those who have the ability and interest to go deeper. My only complaint is that because every problem is unique and high interest, there is not any simple, repetitive practice, which I found my daughter needed to really get how to apply some of the concepts independently. I supplemented with a simple workbook, and that did the trick.
